Training Of Trainers Programme

The Training Of Trainers Programme has been running for almost 4 years. The aims
of the programme are to develop sound ability to carry out techniques and research

The Breakout Project

The ‘Breakout’ Project is a training programme that will help prepare you for
working in today’s job market.. This is a practical, experiential course that uses
activities, and discussions to empower you to address any fears that prevent you from

Reflective Practice and Evaluation Training

Eastern Childcare Partnership has commisioned Tides Training to deliver free
accredited training in Reflective Practice and Evaluation. This course is fun,
practical, interactive and gives you the opportunity to meet other people in the Early

Mediation Work

We are involved in a number of meditative interventions that address conflicts within
the work place, across communities and intra community contexts. Tides in coloboration
with Mediation Northern Ireland and Belfast Interface Project is involved in a programme
that partner with local community organisations within the East Belfast Interface Area.
The aims are to reduce interface tensions through supporting community activists,
assisting communication and maintaining a third party presence on the ground through the
use of monitors.
This work is designed in three stages:

Stage One: The Management Stage
Stage Two Transformation stage
Stage Three The Development Stage

Supporting Community Groups

Tides Training is working with the Community Relations Council on facilitating
community relations and organisational management support under EU funded projects.
We have also been asked to help support the newly formed North Belfast CEP’s
[Community Empowerment Programmes] in their development of community
relations policies.

Young Adult Work

Through work undertaken we have just established in major programme development with
the Shankill Stress and Trauma group to run a young adult citizenship development in
conjunction with the Ashton Centre on the New Lodge Road. This work is programme
in strategically placed to become the benchmark program for the wider
development of citizenship work.

Good Relations Work

Our partnership with Counteract has designed programmes of work that aim to assist
communities to build good relations.Working in the public sector there are ongoing projects
in North Belfast and Enniskillen in relation to the removal of permanent flagging along
arterial routes. We have a major project design currently under assessment with the Belfast
Strategic Partnership Board under the title of “The Break out Project” which, if successful,
will consolidate the Counteract –Tides partnership. This involves researching and designing
training programmes that will encourage people to avail of employment outside their own
catchments areas.

Other Local Projects

We have political education programmes that look at local political history, local politics
today and international politics. These have been designed and delivered to a number of
Women’s Groups and other community based organisations.
