Springboard

Since 1992, Springboard as a company limited by guarantee and with charitable status,
has offered exciting and unique development opportunities to young adults from working
class areas of Greater Belfast, Lisburn and Dublin.

Through cross community, cross border programmes they offer development opportunities and
international work placements in USA , Canada , Europe or South Africa . The programme
themes are personal and social education; skills, qualifications and career development;
and citizenship. During the Springboard journey young adults are enveloped into a process of
'being what they have within them to become' and build a platform for themselves to contribute
as positive stakeholders in society. Participants explore their potential for development and
constructively engage in a process of positive change through local and international
opportunities. At the core of every project is capacity building and promoting an appreciation
of cultural diversity.

Springboard's provision has led to exceptional outcomes with not only 90% entering employment
or further education / training but also with many former participants contributing to
the development of their communities.

TIDES has been delivering the Mutual understanding to a number of Springboard groups pre
departure and also been delivering interview techniques and mock interviews post departure.
TIDES have also delivered OCN (Open College network) Level II accredited courses in Good
Relations and Civic Leadership, Labour Mobility and Conflict Management.
