In December of 2003 Colin Craig and Mary Montague were asked by GAA
[German Agro Action] an International NGO based in Bonn Germany to work with them
in Khartoum, Sudan to develop a joint Food Security and Conflict Management
Development programme for the Nuba Mountain area in Sudan.

This provided the team with a challenging and exciting opportunity to
direct help design a programme with the involvement of key tribal leaders
from the Nuba Mountains that could begin to directly simultaneously work on
the critical understanding that as Colin Craig has said “We know that
poverty drives conflict and that equally conflict drives poverty also”.
